Dr. Michele R. Guzmán is assistant director of research and evaluation at the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health. At the foundation, Dr. Guzmán works primarily on grant programs related to mental health provider workforce issues. Dr. Guzmán is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at UT Austin. Her primary areas of teaching and research interest are multicultural counseling and multicultural competencies.
Prior to joining the Hogg Foundation full time in spring 2011, Dr. Guzmán spent three-and-a-half years doing diversity education workshops both on and off campus to various audiences including police officers and school administrators for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. In this time, she also served as a research fellow with the foundation and functioned as a program officer. Dr. Guzmán received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vassar College.
